K-beauty (Korean beauty) is the new hot sauce in the skincare world. I was curious about the hype and seeing if the beauty regimens will make my melanin pop like whoa so I decided to give some products a try.
First, stepping up to the bat – Tony Moly.
Now, I’m going to keep it one hundred….I only picked out this mask because Bear originally picked it as he recognized the broccoli and stated it was yummy and good for me (out of the mouths of babes, I tell ya’).
It does surprisingly smell fresh and not mediciny (is that a word?) like some other masks.
I was a bit surprised it wasn’t a liquid but an actual mask!
Of course, with my features, the mask didn’t quite fit all of the way.
And when it began to dry, well, it still didn’t fit.
But who cares what it looks like on me, right? Did it work?
And the following day…
So, now that we’ve met the player, here’s how the game is played:
Pros:
- Tony Moly has been around for a while, though I think they’re starting to make a splash in the U.S. So they are a trusted brand.
- This was hella cheap! I think I paid under $4 for it.
- I found this at Ulta, but you can also get it at Amazon in a set.
Of course, with everything good, there is some bad…
Cons:
- Okay, y’all seen the pictures…it didn’t quite fit my face! I don’t know about other K-beauty masks but if you have big, pillow soft lips and a Negro nose with Jackson Five nostrils like yours truly, IT AIN’T GON’ FIT.
- It takes a really long time to dry – 20-30 minutes, though I think it would’ve been upwards to 45. It never did completely dry on me and I had a dry face to begin with.
Verdict?
I have to say, despite the mask not fitting very well and it took forever and a day to dry, it did revitalize my face! I didn’t look as tired from before and very refreshed.
So I do recommend!
If you’ve tried the Tony Moly products, what do you recommend?
I had that same mask and it really evened out my skin and gave moistuze. And I find that those sheets never fit my face either 😂 You don’t have to wait for it to dry out though. You can just take it of still wet and massage the serum into your face and neck 😊
Ooh, I like that idea! I’ll try that next time!
